Thank you for teaching me how to use "capgen" in my previous topic, I have successfully executed the program. I set two 10X10 plates capacitance separate in 1:
capgen -s1 -w10 -p2 -n10 -d > <myfile.qui>
I get the result: ----------------------------------- CAPACITANCE MATRIX, nanofarads 1 2 1%GROUP1 1 1.058 -0.8864 2%GROUP1 2 -0.8864 1.058 ----------------------------------- And I know C=#65288;#949;A#65289;/d
In the parallel capacitor configuration I set up, why is there a significant difference in the calculated capacitance values between fastcap and capacitance formula? How do I fix it?
The difference is between a physical 3D capacitor and a simplified parallel plate capacitor, where fringing fields are completely neglected. Please see the sample file 'capacitor_simple.lst' in the Samples directory and read the comments inside the file.
