Is there a limitation on the number of terminals in a structure? I am able to evaluate fairly complex, large structures provided the structure is limited to a 3x3 result matrix (i.e. three capacitor result).

Consider for example a symmetrical structure with multiple identical, two-terminal sub-structures (9 identical sub-structures). The software is unable to provide a result. If I short all of the sub-structures together with the exception of one structure (i.e. a three terminal model with two terminals of one sub-structure and one terminal for all the remaining, surrounding, and shorted substructures.) I get a reasonable result albeit for only one sub-structure. To complete the evaluation I would need to run, in this case, 9 different simulations to get each result which seems unreasonable.

I have heard about a limitation for FastCap, but a 3 x 3 structure is perfectly simulated with FC.

Dear Scott,

FastCap2 and FasterCap are able to handle many more conductors. Could you provide (via email if too big) the offending input files? I'm afraid that from your description only, however accurate, we cannot pinpoint the solution.

Best Regards,
Enrico

P.s. the comment is valid for both your posts
