I am not able to run FasterCap with a trapped structure (i.e. hole). Is this a software limitation.

Example: A three plane capacitor. Top and bottom planes shorted through a post which goes through the center of the middle plane without touching the middle plane.

The software won't even start running. Fail on start.

If I add a slit between the middle plane hole extending to the edge of the middle plane, (i.e. completely trapped hole is now slightly open), the software runs and provides a reasonable answer.

Is this a bug?

Can you share the input file?

Best Regards,
Enrico

To further clarify my question, it is important to note that the definition input for the middle plane into FasterCap is a single polygon as opposed to two defined polygons (i.e. one polygon with one pair of coincident edges that touch each other as opposed to two separate polygons - one polygon for the circle, one polygon for the plane.)

To get FasterCap to run, the two parallel edges of the middle plane must be slightly separated.
