Hi there,

I am using FastCap2 for electrostatic problems. It's really great work, but can anybody tell me how to calculate the electrostatic force vector applied on the surface? Should I do it according to F=dC*V^2/2, i.e. calculate C twice with slight different position?

Yes I would say so, I would apply F=dC/dD*V^2/2, where C is the capacitance, D is the distance, V is the voltage. Take care however of how the surface would move, you may need to consider different geometric parameters.
I could suggest as reference the paper by R. C. Batra, M. Porfiri and D. Spinello, "Capacitance Estimate for Electrostatically
Actuated Narrow Microbeams", Micro & Nano Letters, 1:2, 71-73, 2007.
(you can find it online)

Best Regards,
Enrico
