Probably a stupid question, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway.
Is there a way to simulate several conductors, some with fixed voltages, some floating? I get the impression from reading one of the white papers the answer is no because the capacitance matrix is solved for by setting voltages to 0 and 1, ie fixed voltage.

I'm trying to simulate a floating conductor that will basically act like an antenna between separate conductors. The goal is to get the net capacitance between the separate conductors and compare with and without the floating conductor in between. If it is at a fixed voltage I would expect a measured result to be very different than if it was floating. I'm not sure the correct way, if there is one, to use FastCap2 to approach this problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

FastCap2 is not a simulator, it is a field solver. Therefore, it uses the 'trick' to set voltages to 1 or 0 to calculate the capacitance of the input conductors, but this does not mean that, once you have the result, you can not use them as capacitor values in a circuit simulator (e.g. Spice). In this case, you can connect the nodes to whatever source or other element you need, or even leave them floating.

Best Regards,
Enrico
